Soy Foods (Tofu & Edamame)
Protein
Whole soy foods like tofu and edamame are rich in isoflavones studied in relation to hormone-related cancers.
- Some observational studies link higher soy intake with lower prostate cancer risk.
- For breast cancer, moderate soy (1-2 servings/day) appears safe and may improve survival in some patients.
- A good plant protein to replace red or processed meat.
Favour whole or minimally processed soy — tofu, tempeh, edamame, soy milk — over concentrated isoflavone supplements.
Whole-food soy is considered safe; isoflavone supplements are less certain. If you are on hormone therapy, confirm with your team.
