Brazil Nuts (Selenium)
Nuts
Brazil nuts are the richest food source of selenium, a mineral important for thyroid function and antioxidant defence.
- Selenium supports healthy thyroid hormone metabolism.
- Acts as an antioxidant that protects cells.
- Just 1-2 nuts meet the daily selenium requirement.
One to two Brazil nuts a day is plenty — more is not better.
Too much selenium is toxic. The large SELECT trial found selenium supplements did NOT prevent prostate cancer, so get it from food, not pills.
